REPLAY our live coverage of tonight's NAB Cup clash between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

9:57pm AEDT- Bulldogs 1.10.6 (75) defeat Hawthorn 2.8.8 (74).

THE Western Bulldogs hold on to beat Hawthorn by a point at Etihad Stadium.

They did it the hard away - coming from behind in the final quarter to beat last year's runners up.

A lot of great signs for the Bullies.

Matthew Boyd had 31 disposals and Tom Liberatore had 21 touches.

Issac Smith and Sam Mitchell both had it 19 times each for the Hawks, while Lance Franklin kicked four goals.

A MASSIVE goal from Clay Smith has the Dogs back on front.

Can you believe it?

Buddy Franklin's two goals in a minute look to have sunk the Doggies.

But a great goal from Luke Dahlhaus on the boundary and then Smith's monster goal put the Dogs back in front.

Four minutes left.

BUDDY delivers again when it counts.

The big Hawk leaps high to take a massive mark in the goal square.

He quickly plays on and goal.

A minute later the ball comes out of the centre and he takes it again.

Just like that, Franklin may have sunk the Doggies.

JARRYD Roughead kicks a monster nine-pointer to get the lead out to eight points.

The Bulldogs have answered every challenge tonight.

Can they rise again?

The answer was quick and emphatic.

Tory Dickson runs on to an open goal and the Dogs are back within two points.

There is an injury concern for the Hawks with David Hale subbed out.

9:25pm AEDT -Bulldogs 52 lead Hawthorn 51 at THREE QUARTER-TIME

WELCOME to the AFL, Jake Stringer!

He gathers it deep into attack, gets around a few opponents and throws it onto his boot from the boundary.

It goes straight through the middle.

Not bad for his first kick in league football.

All of a sudden the Doggies are back in front at the final change.

COULD Lance Franklin be in trouble for Round 1?

Franklin copped a lucky break last week when he was let off after collecting a player high.

It has happened again with Buddy catching Koby Stevens high in almost identical circumstances.

The Hawks have skipped away early in the third term.

They lead by 17 points after a goal from Isaac Smith.

But the Franklin incident will have Hawks fans a tad nervous.

8:38pm AEDT- Bulldogs 0.5.3 (33) lead Hawthorn 1.3.5 (32) - HALF-TIME

The Hawks dominated the early part of the second quarter and threatened to run away with it.

Frankin began to have an influence and David Hale up forward was causing headaches for the Dogs.

But the boys from the west steadied and lead at the main break by one point after a fairly entertaining first half.

Koby Stevens struck it nicely to put the Bulldogs back in front just before the siren.

Matthew Boyd has 13 disposals to half-time, while Ryan Griffen has 11 and two goals.

For the Hawks, Issac Smith and Lance Franklin lead their possession count with nine disposals each.

Franklin has also kicked two goals.

8:27pm AEDT- Bulldogs 0.4.3 (27) trails Hawthorn 1.3.5 (27)

BUDDY brilliant.

How good is Franklin to watch?

That's a rhetorical question, we all know.

The Hawk star produces the highlight of the night when he gathers the ball in the middle of the ground, brushes off an opponent and puts it through from 60 metres out.

It's a supergoal and eclipses the good roving snap by Bulldog Ryan Griffen a few minutes earlier.

8:20pm AEDT - Bulldogs 0.3.3 (21) trail Hawthorn 0.3.4 (22)

BUDDY is starting to warm up.

Franklin marks in the goalsquare and puts it through early in the second quarter.

Then big man David Hale marks strongly close to goal and kicks his first.

Hawks slowly but surely beginning to wake up.

8:05pm AEDT- Bulldogs 0.3.3 (21) lead Hawthorn 0.1.3 (9) - QUARTER-TIME

THE Bulldogs are on fire early on at Etihad Stadium.

Jason Johannisen extends the lead to three goals after being on the end of a string of handballs and putting it straight through the middle.

They are running hard and using the ball well.

Great signs here by the young Doggies.

But the Hawks have decided they have had enough.

Lance Franklin marks and kicks the first for the Hawks right on quarter-time.

 7:50pm AEDT- Bulldogs 0.2.1 (14) lead Hawthorn 0.2 (2)

THE Bulldogs have kicked the first goal of the match through veteran Robert Murphy.

Murphy calmly slotted it from a set shot, 40 metres out on a 45-degree angle.

That was soon followed up by Ryan Griffen, who also goaled from a set shot.

Impressive early start by the Doggies, who are winning the clearances.

The Hawks yet to wake up.
