Ward had one disposal to his name.
Hocking was reported following the incident.
He watched the remainder of the first half from the interchange bench.
Meanwhile, No.2 draft pick O'Rourke was subbed out of the match at half-time.
The young gun emerged on the interchange bench with heavy strapping on his right thigh.
O'Rourke, who was subbed on during the second term, finished with two disposals.
The latest injury comes as a blow for the emerging midfielder who has track record of hamstring injuries.
O'Rourke spent the bulk of the pre-season on a modified training program.
